A website as a marketing tool: from visit to inquiry

A website as a marketing tool: clear proposition, trust and concrete action. See how to arrange the path from visit to inquiry.

A website at the center of marketing related to search, social networks, and advertising.

THE SHORT ANSWER.

A working website presents a specific service, shows real evidence, and offers appropriate action. Measure the successful inquiries and their quality, not just the number of visits.

Using a website as a marketing tool means giving it a job. Not just displaying the logo and making it look good, but helping the visitor understand the offer, trust you, and take a specific next step.

You can compare it to a person who greets your customers. They know what you offer, answer common questions, and guide you to the right conversation. A website can do this when the office is closed too, but it can’t perform the service itself or guarantee a sale.

The difference between a presence and a working tool lies in the task of each page. For a salon, it could be scheduling an appointment. For a company providing technical services, it could be a simple inquiry. For a catalog, it could be choosing a product and clearly describing the needs.

What should a website do as a marketing tool?

Before discussing colors, write down what you want the person to do after the visit. A primary goal helps you choose the content and features. If all the pages are pursuing a different direction, the visitor may be left unclear about the next step.

Presenting the service is the first task. The client must understand what they are getting, who it is suitable for, and how the work begins. “Quality solutions for your success” does not provide enough information. “Design and installation of custom-sized kitchens in Varna” already outlines a proposal.

The second task is to answer the questions that hold back the decision. The timeframe, the service areas, the necessary materials, and the way to determine the price can be more important than a long story about the company’s history. Check what people ask in real conversations.

The third task is to offer appropriate action. For a complex project, this is usually a conversation or inquiry. For a product with clear terms, it could be an order. Do not insist on action until the person has enough information to choose it with confidence.

Trust should be close to the proposal.

After learning about the service, the visitor looks for a reason to choose you. Real projects, photos of the work, and a specific process give them context. If you have reviews, use real texts and the necessary permission to publish them.

Do not leave all the evidence on a separate page that no one is directed to. There may be a suitable completed project for the interior design service. There may be actual photos and clear conditions for staying in the hotel room description.

Point out what the example shows. A photo of a beautiful result does not explain the task, the constraints, and your role. A short text “layout for a small kitchen with limited storage space” helps a client with a similar problem to recognize themselves.

Evidence does not necessarily mean a percentage increase in sales. If you have not measured the effect, you can show the changed structure or convenience contact. An honest explanation is more useful than a number for which there is no period, method, and source.

Give each marketing channel an appropriate goal

In online marketing for a small business, the website can collect interest from various sources. People can come from search, paid advertising, social media posts, or recommendations. The same address may also appear on a business card, menu, or printed brochure.

It is not necessary that everyone lands on the home page. Advertising for a specific procedure should lead to information about it. A publication about a new product can lead to its features. This way, the customer continues the topic that has already interested them.

Check whether the promise in the ad matches the one on the page. If the message talks about a specific timeframe, the terms should be visible after opening the site. A discrepancy creates doubt and can lead to inappropriate inquiries.

With a QR code on printed material, test the actual address from the phone. Make sure it leads to an up-to-date page and does not require excessive searching. The code itself is not a strategy; the path after scanning is useful.

Measure the actions that matter

The visits show that people have reached the site. They do not automatically indicate whether it helps the business. Determine what you will consider a useful action: a submitted form, a requested reservation, or a suitable inquiry processed by the team.

Google Search Console is a tool for monitoring performance in Google Search. It can help you see what searches are showing your pages and how many clicks they receive. This is different from tracking the entire customer conversation. Official guide to Search Console.

An analytical tool, such as Google Analytics, can report on visits and pre-configured actions. However, clicking on a phone number does not prove that a call was made. Clicking the send button does not equate to a successful request being received.

Therefore, specify how success is recorded and who verifies the received requests. The selected tools and their consent must be configured according to the applicable requirements. Do not collect more information than is necessary for the specific task.

Keep a simple to-do list of inquiries: for which service are they relevant, are they suitable, and what followed. It is not necessary to start with a complex system. Continuous monitoring is more useful than many indicators that no one uses to make decisions.

Make the first contact easy from the phone

The mobile visitor may be on the go and have little time. They need to find the offer, read the important terms and conditions and choose a contact channel. A small button or a long form can interrupt this journey.

For a first inquiry, a name, contact information, and a brief description are usually sufficient. The additional questions should have a specific reason. If you need a photo or a size for an accurate quote, you can ask for it in the next conversation or explain in advance why it is needed.

The phone should be able to be pressed. The form should indicate whether the request has been recorded and what is next. If you offer Viber or WhatsApp, test the buttons on the device on which the apps are installed and provide another way to contact you.

Don't add all the possible channels with the same emphasis. If your client sees a form, chat, three apps, and several competing buttons, the choice can become more difficult. Arrange them according to how your team actually works.

The newsletter is a separate task, not a substitute for the inquiry. Use it when you have useful content to send and you can maintain the connection. The visitor should understand what is being recorded and how they can opt out.

How to show the effect through a real project?

Choose an example for which you have reliable information and permission to publish. Describe the initial problem, the changes, and how you checked the result. The client's name and the measured parameters must be confirmed before they appear in the article.

If there is no measurement of inquiries, do not turn the impression into statistics. You can show that the contact is already in a visible place or that the service pages are clearer. This is a specific change that the reader can understand and appreciate.

Start with one page and one question

Choose a service that is important to your business. Review its page and ask: “What prevents the right customer from moving forward?” There may be missing terms, a suitable example, or an understandable button. Not every problem requires a complete redesign.

Check the website for common errors to separate the content issues from those in the usability. Then determine which change has the clearest connection to the goal and how you will evaluate it.

When planning a budget, include the task and the necessary features, not just the number of pages. In the breakdown of the cost for website development, you will find the questions that help you compare the offers.

Let the website have a clear structure

You want a website that helps with inquiries, not just collecting visits? Tell us what you have to offer, who you want to attract, and how a good conversation with a customer begins. We will arrange the website around this task.

Still useful for the next step.
